Fondness for Feet: Fetish Terms for Feet, Shoes, and Hosiery

Well, no, my Lovelies, Your Mistress EmmaJane still has her wits about her!  I am simply bringing to light some technical and colorful terminology for one of the most common fetishes that exists: sexual attraction to feet.  While the term podophilia specifically refers to sexual interest in the feet in a more general manner (i.e., finding desirous aspects of the feet such as size and shape of the foot and/or toes or smell), it is often also used as a catch-all term to include lust for those items related to feet, such as shoes (formally known in its fetish specificity as retifism) and stockings.  Arefitism is the instance of foot fetish which requires the feet to be bare in order to be sexually provocative.  Within both classifications of foot fetish, the same activities are enjoyed: sniffing, licking, fondling, cumming on or otherwise worshipping the feet, as well as having the foot rubbed over one’s face and body. Two terms indicating common, specific behaviors of foot fetishists are the aforementioned shrimping and trampling.  Shrimping refers to the act of sucking on another’s toes, while trampling indicates the standing or walking upon another person’s body, typically the face and “intimate” areas.  Each type of foot-related fetish is found to occur more commonly in men, and can very often be deeper in intensity and with a much broader range of expression that most people are aware.  In short, podophilia is the most common sexual fetish wherein sexual attraction is geared toward objects or body parts that are typically considered or seen as being non-sexual.
